Privacy Policy

How we collect, use, and protect your data.

This Privacy Policy explains what information Urbex Planet collects, how we use it, and the choices you have. By using Urbex Planet you agree to this policy.

Eligibility

Urbex Planet is for users aged 16+ (or higher where required by local law). See the Terms of Service for details.

1. Information We Collect

  • Account Data: Username, email, hashed password, profile settings, preferences.
  • User Content: Photos, location reports, comments, chat messages, messages, reactions.
  • Usage & Technical: IP (stored for security, abuse prevention & last active), device/user‑agent, request metadata, visit stats, map interaction stats.
  • Optional Profile Fields: Timezone, visibility preferences, statistics display toggles.
  • Security / Abuse Data: Bans, rate limiting counters, duplicate ignore rules, logs of key moderation actions.

2. How We Use Information

  • Provide and maintain core features (maps, pins, chat, profiles).
  • Improve reliability, performance, and anti‑abuse measures.
  • Detect spam, fraud, harmful behaviour, or policy violations.
  • Display aggregate stats and community activity (never selling personal data).
  • Respond to bug reports, moderation requests, or legal inquiries.

3. Cookies & Local Storage

We may use session cookies and minimal local storage values to keep you signed in, remember preferences (like map settings), and protect against CSRF / abuse. We do not use invasive tracking or third‑party ad networks.

4. Third‑Party Services

External services may process limited data to enable functionality:

  • Geolocation / Maps: Reverse geocoding or tile services (receiving your IP, request context).
  • Content Delivery: Static hosting / CDN may log standard request metadata.
  • Analytics (if enabled): Aggregate, non‑personal usage trends only.

Third‑party providers have their own policies; you should review them independently.

Google Analytics

If enabled by administrators, Urbex Planet uses Google Analytics to understand aggregate site usage. Google Analytics only loads after you opt in via the on‑site consent banner. If you decline, analytics will not load.

  • Consent & cookie: We store your choice in a cookie named ga_consent with value granted or denied (duration ~1 year, SameSite=Lax, Path=/). You can change your choice anytime by clearing this cookie in your browser; the banner will reappear.
  • Admin sessions excluded: Analytics is suppressed for signed‑in users with the admin role.
  • What is collected: Standard Google Analytics request metadata (e.g., page paths/URLs, referrers, approximate device/UA information) and page views. We do not intentionally send personal identifiers like your username or email to Google Analytics.
  • Opt‑out: Choose “Decline” on the banner or remove the ga_consent cookie. Without consent, analytics will not load.

Google LLC provides Google Analytics and may process data in the United States and other countries. Learn more at Google’s “How Google uses information” page.

Clears the ga_consent cookie and reloads this page so the consent banner is shown again.

5. Data Sharing

We do not sell your personal data. We only disclose information when necessary for: (a) legal compliance, (b) protecting rights, safety, or property, (c) enforcing platform policies, or (d) fulfilling a user request (e.g., moderation follow‑up).

6. Your Choices & Controls

  • Adjust profile visibility (show joined date, last active, timezone, stats).
  • Delete or edit your uploaded content where supported.
  • Request data export or deletion by emailing [email protected].
  • Log out or disable cookies via browser settings (may limit functionality).

7. Data Retention

Core account data is retained while your account is active. Security logs, ban records, and abuse mitigation data may be retained longer to maintain platform integrity. Deleted content may persist briefly in backups.

8. Security

We apply reasonable technical and organizational measures (access controls, rate limiting, hashed credentials). No system is perfectly secure; you are responsible for safeguarding your account credentials.

9. International Access

If you access the service from outside its hosting region, your data will be transferred and processed where our infrastructure resides. Using the platform implies consent to this transfer.

10. Policy Changes

Material updates may be announced or timestamped here. Continued use after changes indicates acceptance.
