Coal, rail and the building stock
The City’s 2007 inventory traces early coal mining along the Oldman River and the railway’s role in Lethbridge’s growth. It also documents an 1891 fire boundary that called for brick, concrete or stone in the main commercial square.

From survey to register
The City’s Heritage 101 overview sets out the sequence: a survey and places-of-interest list of roughly 4,500 sites (2006 and 2016), Inventories I–IV filtered to 68 sites of significance and integrity (2007, 2009, 2011 and 2015), then the Register of Historic Places with 26 municipal and 15 provincial designations.
