[1] Deerhome was administratively combined with the Alberta School Hospital about a kilometre Southwest in 1973, and this combined institution was renamed to Michener Centre in 1977 after Roland Michener. The site continued operating until 2014, when all patients were relocated to the Southern site and the Northern site became one of Central Alberta's largest abandonments. [2] The site was demolished in 2021/2022.
